Original GS911 and K1200LT

(1/2) > >>

bevhoward:
I purchased the GS911 (bluetooth & usb) shortly after it was introduced and used it without problems only on my 1150GS until I had to sell (for medical reasons) the GS a couple of years ago.

Today, I dug it out to help a friend with a K1200LT that died on a ride today.

For some reason, the GS911 is apparently not powering up when it is connected to the 1200's diagnostic connector (no light, no appearance on the bluetooth scan)  It worked the last time I used it (when I sold the GS)

Am I missing something obvious or has something changed with the connector pinouts on the K1200LT.

Related question... can someone let me know what the power pins on the GS911 so I can power it up manually to see if the problem is in the GS911 or elsewhere.

Thanks in advance,
Bevery Howard

Progress... bad fuse on the K1200LT even though the diagnostic connector pins had one at 12v.

The GS911 powered up, paired with a Nexus 7 and completed the app's "test"

However, while the ABS diagnostics were transferred, the engine communication failed in all tests.

This is a 2009 K1200LT and the menu only shows up to 2008 for that model.

Any hints appreciated.

The later K1200LT's have the ABS and the BMSK on different pins on the diagnostics socket so there is either a airing fault, blown fuse or a BMSK fault

To power up the GS911 use a PC and the USB port, there are 2 power pins on the diags socket side of it though Pin 6-VBat and Pin 10 V-Ignition, Earth is Pin 4

Thanks for the response, but I'm a bit lost here...

I assume that on the older bikes, both the engine (BMSK???) and ABS were on the same pin?

Is it possible that this older gs911 can't communicate with the BMSK pin???  (this gs911 only has 5 pins populated)  Further, I'm wondering if the fact that the bike selections all ended in 2008 models indicates that this GS911 can't communicate with the (dedicated) BMSK pin.

We went through the fuses and only found one bad fuse, which, when replaced, the GS911 finally powered up when it was connected to the bike.

When "engine" was selected, the app gave a message that indicated "error" and unable to communicate... sorry, I didn't capture it and I am not where the bike is until tomorrow.

Still hoping,
Beverly Howard
