ABS related issues / Re: ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Phase Shift problem
« Last post by botus on March 27, 2024, 01:25:04 PM »
its normal on BMW bikes for the senor wires to snap - usually its the rear one - specially routed with cable ties to deliberately stress one section till they break - on the earlier bikes it also flags a snapped rear sensor as the front

that fake diagnostic confusion comes from limited / budget diagnostic capability - ABS will feed different signals based on grip each wheel sees - and thus the bike doesn't care if the rear is feeding interesting info (it just thinks the grip levels are bad on the back wheel when braking - but on early ASC traction control, all they did was try to judge if both wheels speeds are the same under acceleration by using the ABS sensors - so a part broken intermittent signal from a failing rear ABS sensor throws the ASC in to a meltdown of no grip - so it kill the engine

ALL BMW riders need to know this - so they can switch out traction control and ride home rather than get the vehicle recovered over nothing !

the best bit as the system just knows there's a massive difference in wheel speed, but not which was slipping, so, Quick throw an error code - as I don't know which, just pull the first code in the list - which is the front senor failure

what else happens when it has the inertia sensor picking up info on later bikes I don't know (optional from 2015)

GS-911 / Re: Alarm system battery fault code won't clear

The 2021 alarm unit batteries are in a secondary compartment so no requirement to unplug wires from the pcb. To be honest I was grateful about that as having watched the YouTube vids on the old module I wasn't keen on taking it to pieces.

Central Vehicle Electronics/ZFE/GM issues / Re: Auxiliary connector

Hello,
I’am French, so excuse me for my bad English !
I need to active my auxiliary connector for using it for charging my phone.
Can I active this port with the GS 911 ?
(BMW R1200R Classic -2011).
Marc.

?  there are two power outlets on most BMW bikes -

near the battery the little DIN socket

a three pin connector up front (white plastic plug) for BM sat nav system - loads use the sat nav one for power they are  +, -, and speed signal for tunnels

either way both are always powered with the bike started (when there are no faults)

check out this company for lots of stuff to plug in (its a french bloke) https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?item=175468142174&rt=3561.l161211&_ssn=brico18

on the earlier bike when replacing the batteries its very easy to dislodge the two silly plugs that get the power on to the PCB - to make it pretty inside they twist the wires around each other till they end up too short

Hi Marc

Thanks for reaching out. Not currently, we haven't looked into this yet. It could possibly be a hardware as well as software change that needs to happen if it wasn't added to stock.

Kind regards and safe travels

R1200 models / Re: EWS issue. Error code 37633
« Last post by Ruan on March 27, 2024, 09:46:46 AM »
Hi Bojan

Can you please include a full autoscan of the bike? Download as a text file and paste the scan here.

From the fault you listed below, that's pointing towards a cluster controller rather than engine/EWS, so I suspect it's most likely a CAN issue rather than a ring antenna issue.

Kind regards

Hi Morrington

That's strange, if the GS-911 doesn't recognise a fault that means it's something the ECU doesn't deem relevant to report as a fault, but I would suggest to scan the bike once the fault pops up, might be a different controller reporting it.

Kind regards

F Series / BMW F650GS coding RDC
« Last post by Addy_RUS on March 26, 2024, 07:09:57 PM »
I purchased a BMW F650GS twin. There is no RDC on it. If I purchase an RDC unit with sensors, can I use the GS-911 to link it to my motorcycle?

Thanks for your reply.

I think that may be the problem. No fault is shown on the gs911 but the fault shows on the dash. It's as if the gs911 is not aware that there is a fault.
I'll do another autoscan later and see if anything changes.

Hi Prinsloow

Best would be to include an autoscan of your bike, if you enter those codes below you get a few dozen ECUs back - faults range from tank-vent to injection valve:
https://bmwfault.codes/

Download the autoscan as a text file and paste it in your response here.

Kind regards
