On Friday I received a new GS-911 from Beemershop.
Today I have repeatedly tried to hook-up the GS-911 to the Exclusive. Normally I get a screen that says Error: Attempting to connect to this controller timed out. I have tried with the engine running as well as not running.
Recently I am getting the following message
Error. Couldn't get data for controllers:json? timestamp=14083091744308mid=41(code:0)
I am trying to use a Microsoft Surface Pro 2, Windows 8.1
Info on the GS-911 WiFi
Firmware 0.196-0.94
Base 0.24-0.9-1
Datapack 88
It has beta # 1408.1
Any help would be appreciated

Firstly update the GS911, there is later firmware available, if that does not resolve it lodge a support ticket
There was another thread with Win 8/8.1 problems, do you have any other PC systems to cross check with ?
-
No other systems other than an Android that I could try tomorrow.
I downloaded the latest firmware on Friday.
-
There are firmware updates available
0.197-0.96 I dropped in on saturday, and datapack 89 has been out since at least 12/8, redo the update
I did some tests with Android off a Samsung Tablet last friday and it worked well but that was into a 2012 G650GS
-
I just tried to update the GS-911 WiFi and it said that no updates were available.
Is there a way to reset the unit so it could be repudiated. Obviously something is wrong with the software. I do see red question marks on the top 3 items.

I wonder if a proxy setting is preventing you getting the latest updates ?
I would definitely lodge the support ticket, the Hexcode staff are pretty quick on responses and are looking for any problems like this especially around the CAN implementation
I would also try to crosscheck the problem by using the USB connection if that was possible
-
I have tried both USB and WiFI. I will see what the Samsung will do next
-
Will be interested in how you go with the tablet, I am not normally a tablet user but had no real problems other than finding my fingers are too big
The red question marks have me intrigued, it does suggest a problem/corruption, I do know there is a recovery system for the unit where firmware loads/updates go astray but you need to have Hexcode involved for that so the support ticket will kick that process off if it is needed
-
I put in a service ticket last night. Also tried one of the Samsung tablets with no luck. I think that I got a corrupted download and that is the problem. On the K1600 forum some users have said that they have had to say that their GTL was a GT to get the unit to work. I will call Beemershop today and see if they have any ideas.
-
Will be interested in the outcome, sorry to hear you had a problem as the WiFi has impressed me and after 40 years in IT/Telecoms I am not easily impressed, mine has done everything asked of it into the F and G series singles and with all the devices I tried so far but I dont use Win8/8.1 and never will
-
So... are you actually connecting the interface to the correct plug??
The K1600GTL and exclusive have 2 plugs that both look like the diagnostic connector.
The one in the rear towards the top box is not the one to use...
Foto's please?
-
Yes I know about the trunk plug. I think that my problem is with a bad software download. Today I got the unit to see the voltage but little else. I know that some of the software is out of date but the unit thinks that it is up to date.

After a day of trying I am now getting the following message
Buffer Index Out of Range

If you click on the red question mark you will see it provides some help text. So there is nothing wrong with that.

This is highly unlikely as the software downloads are all verified before being applied. I see that a ticket has been logged on the helpdesk, so let's continue there otherwise we have to duplicate support.
-
I wish it was that simple. All clicking on the question marks is telling me is what the software is. It does not let me update the out of date modules.

we're not thinking you have corrupt firmware.. that would not boot and you would not be able to access the interface (when not plugged into the bike, just powered by USB)
When you use the GS-911 utility (for PC or MAC) and connect the GS-911wifi over USB, then check for updates.. This does not need your GS-911wifi to be connected to a network.. only the PC needs internet access..
Once that's up to date, then that's not the issue.. then the problem lies between your GS-911 and the bike...
I've used the GS-911wifi on both the GTL as well as the GTL Exclusive.. without any problems.... - so I'm pretty sure we can get you sorted!
Firstly let's make sure that you're using the correct connector... the K1600 has caught a couple of people out..
http://www.hexcode.co.za/products/gs-911/support/how-tos/how-to-loacate-the-diagnostic-connector-on-your-bmw-motorcycle (http://www.hexcode.co.za/products/gs-911/support/how-tos/how-to-loacate-the-diagnostic-connector-on-your-bmw-motorcycle)
Then as a next step, just power the GS-911wifi from your PC using USB - Use the utility to make sure you can open a browser to it - this means your wifi is set up correctly and the GS-911 is working correctly (i.e. you can browse the interface, Main screen, About screen, view the models/Series etc...)
if all of the above work, then we take it a step further...
best

Yes I can open the browser. Peet had me change some settings in IE11 this morning and the GS911 seems to be working. I also was able to get a Samsung tablet to work.

On Friday I went to a local BMW dealer and tried the GS911 on a GTL that was on there floor. The GS911 worked properly. I came home and have the same problems that I have always had with the Exclusive.

Since 1410 software has been released my GS-911 is working properly. It was a problem with the latest software on the Exclusive.
