The GS-911 is a great tool for both workshop level service functionality, as well as emergency functionality. For emergency functionality, you'll simply need a WiFi enabled Android/iOS device, which can connect to the GS-911's hotspot it creates. From here, you'll be able to do the functions listed by Schuppi. Things like the autoscan and read faults are used to diagnose exactly what is causing a problem, after which you can clear the faults (once the fault has been corrected). To ensure you get the correct product for your bike, I've linked our local website's VIN decoder below, simply enter your bike's full 17 digit VIN:

Hi Guilherme

At the bottom of the autoscan report, there are 3 options - email, print and download - you can select print for example and one of the print options (printing dialogue is opened by your Windows machine) is Print to PDF, which can then be saved as well.

If you have any trouble with this, please send through some photos/screenshots to our helpdesk on support@hexcode.co.za and we'll have a look through it.

In any case, errors can be read out and deleted.
Read important measured values for these errors in order to narrow down the causes.
Resetting adaptations when replacing parts is also part of this.
In short, the motorcycle can be restored to its original condition.

I travel to fairly remote locations across South Africa on my GS and I'm keen on getting this gizmo in case I have a breakdown.
However I'm not keen on struggling with software bugs and issues and need to ask: how is the useability, which model would be best for a new 1250 and is the product really helpful?

Look at the fan. Do you really think it is large enough to create maximum cooling effect at low speeds to sitting at a red light? Its designed to work in a pit lane situation where you are waiting on the release of the bikes on the track.

This guy wrote a good reference to the cooling system and design.

For diagnosing and issue like this, the GS-911 can be used to run an autoscan/read fault codes on your engine ECU, which will display any faults that are detected as either previously present, or currently present. What this means is that in the event that the thermostat is not sending the expected values to your bike's ECU, a fault code will be thrown on your ECU - this can be used to confirm that the problem is in fact the thermostat, and you can proceed to replace it.

The GS-911 also allows reading and logging of real time values - this can be used to check specific values relating to your cooling system, which can also help to identify where exactly the problem is.

Here is your possible problem. Speed vs air flow.

First of all the S1000RR was not designed for commuter traffic. You cannot poke along at 20-40KPH and get enough air flow across the radiator for the cooling effect to be efficient. So then there is the electric fan. Turning on the electric fan does nothing for the S1000RR because it is too small and there is only one. There is only one for weight saving. There is only one because BMW Motorrad never designed the S1000RR to be anything but a canyon carving / road racing bike. Riding on the street is a luxury that can be done, as long as you are moving at least 50KPH.

Turing the fan on early can effect the fueling on cold start up mornings as well. The engine is designed around 180-205F. Fan on is 212F ( 100C ) .. that is when some cooling can take effect to help in dissipate heat back to 180-205F

do you recommend me to turn on the fans early or still stock value?

about airflow and design is questionable because I have friends who ride these bikes in Dubai and they say they have never experienced such problems

Mustang Dyno already has the ability to input weight as a factor in the dyno numbers. That is one reason alot of people dont like and use Mustang dyno's. DynoJet does not take into account for anything about the bike. You are just spinning the weight wheel with the rear tire and hoping for the best in traction so all the input is read correctly. DynoJet claims 2HP difference from Dyno to Dyno in their product line and that is BS. I have seen as much as 10HP off on the same bike in the same area of 3 dynos and they are not within 2HP of each other.
