Title: ESA error
Post by: alandelph on June 17, 2013, 03:01:17 PM
The bike is a 2012 R1200RTSE fitted with ESA. Tried to see what was going on in the  ESA Calibration Function
ESA Calibration screen was as follows
Front Position                0
Front Maximum             0
Rear Position             137
Rear Maximum        2399

Calibrate Front Suspension
Calibrate Rear Suspension

Tried to do the front Calibration and no noise was heard and an Error message came up in a  "ERROR Box" on the screen saying:
"Negative Response received from controller, conditions not correct or incorrect sequence of commands"

Then tried the rear and it started to "move" adjust the rear shock that lasted for just under a minute and half way thru the test it came up with the same Error message.

Left the bike for an hour and did the same test again, with the following results

Front Position                0
Front Maximum             0
Rear Position             157
Rear Maximum        2400

with the same error for both front and rear.

does this result equate to faulty ESA or is it that the front ESA does not work.

Every other function I have tried on the beta 1305.4 has resulted in what has been as expected, with more exploring into the functionality on this fantastic tool.

Great job you are doing there...

Regards

Alan

Hi Alan

Thanks for the feedback.
Beta V1306.4 has just been uploaded, please let us know if you still have issues.

Hi,

I can confirm I have exactly the same issue with a R1200RT from 2007, using GS-911 1306.4 beta software.
Including the same error-message.

But now only for the front ESA only.

The rear ESA calibration took a minute and then reported back that is was successful.

But now only for the front ESA only.

The RT does not have preload adjustment in for the front (which is also why the hall sensor positions are all 0).
So this is expected (but maybe confusing) behaviour.

Excellent, thank you for the fact-finding!

Correct, there is indeed no ESA preload on my R1200RT (the bulky external part) front shock-assembly.

Problem solved for my case. I will thus close it.
