Hi,
Just got a GS 911 bluetooth set up on my Android Incredible (HTC ADR6410 Incredible 4G/LTE). It does work just fine....I think.
Everything read and connected but could not reset the service code. Most likely my inability, not the device. Wheeled the bike to the front door and ran the USB cable from my computer and was able to reset the service code at that point.
Cheers,

Feel free to scold me for buying Chinese:
Bought ONLY for use with the GS911,
1/4 the price of phones with the same specifications.

(It is a bit strange it is working as I was told it was locked to only Google apps and I used a download from the Hecode site)

Stephen,

I can report that the Bluetooth works just fine with a Verizon Ellipsis-7 tablet - which Verizon (US) was giving away several times this year. Works like a charm.

A few suggestions for a tablet version:

1 - An option on where to store log files - since space on the primary memory can be at a premium, but memory cards are cheap.

2 - Would be lovely to have the plotting capability of the full Windows app on a tablet - that would make it unnecessary for me to drag my old Netbook along on long trips.

And I also have a Verizon branded Samsung Galaxy S-4. Works fine on that also (unlike my Verizon HTC-Incredible-II that I was never able to get it working.)

Thanks Don, added to the list.

I think you can do this by installing/moving the app to the card instead of internal memory.
As far as I remember, the app cannot write wherever it wants to due to Android security constraints, but if you install it on the card, the logs are on the card.

2 - Would be lovely to have the plotting capability of the full Windows app on a tablet - that would make it unnecessary for me to drag my old Netbook along on long trips.
Noted.

And I also have a Verizon branded Samsung Galaxy S-4. Works fine on that also (unlike my Verizon HTC-Incredible-II that I was never able to get it working.)
I guess the Verizon HTC-Incredible is not that "Incredible"   :D
Title: Re: These devices have been verified to work with GS-911 Mobile for Android

Actually - the memory implementation of the Verizon Ellipsis-7 pad precludes installing any apps on the add-on memory card, but in some apps - it is possible to direct their data files to the memory card. The internal memory on the pad is broken into a /system partition and an emulated memory card /drive0. The add in memory card appears as /drive1. Originally the firmware restricted the size of the /system partition to 1GB, which caused problems with people who wanted to add lots of apps. Verizon released an update that fixed this, and apparently allows the /system partition to resize itself or grow dynamically. Problem is - there is only 8GB total memory shared between /system and /drive0 - so it is probably possible to run out of memory if someone was to store lots of photos/music on the emulated /drive0.

Just a thought - dunno how hard it would be to do since I haven't done any Android programming - but some apps do allow for data storage location selection by the user, and if one were making a big log for diagnostics purposes this might be useful.

Thanks for the response. If you want any help in beta-testing any of this - Stephen has my email..

Hi,
Just purchased a new phone, a Droid Turbo 2 with Android Version 5.1.1.
I now need to download the app to bluetooth it to my GS 911 device (enthusiast). I found the app and since it now cost $9.99 I wanted to make sure that it is compatible with my phone. Hate to pay for it and find it won't run. Anyone know if it will work?
Thanks in advance!

You don't need the app to run scans. Just use a browser pointed at 10.0.0.1. Have the GS911 broadcasting it's own wifi signal. You can do everything you want.

I don't believe that my GS 911 will broadcast wi-fi...
If it's red/black is supports WiFi (http://www.hexcode.co.za/products/gs-911wifi).
Quote
...it's a cable only.
If it's yellow (http://www.hexcode.co.za/products/gs-911) and supports cable only (GS-911usb model), you have no use for the app. You can't connect to the phone with a cable.

To be able to use the app, you need to have the GS-911blu model (enthusiast or professional both work) with Bluetooth support.

Yep, no wi-fi, have the yellow model. It does have blue tooth. It mated with my old phone for use on the road to trouble shoot any issues. Worked very well, but the question remains if the app will run on my new phone, Droid Turbo 2 running  5.1.1 on Verizon.

I can't answer that but I'm trying to give you the hints needed to work around the (cost) issue of testing the app, as that seems to be your main concern.

Please read my previous post again. I was referring to the Android app. Download it from there and test it. If it works, you can download it again from the Play store to support Hexcode...

What is this Bluetooth you mention, I use when it works on a iPhone & GS-911wifi device.  Plug in device set it up, connect it to cloud & all features usually work using your hotspot.

Unless this is another device 🤓
