How to log 30+ minutes worth of data on GS911 Wifi
Adventure Trio:
I have an issue with a R1200GS LC that I believe is fuel related but would like to make sure. Is there a way to log real time data on the Wifi version of the device without having a computer on the bike while doing so?
Thanks in advance for the help.
Best regards,
Terry
marchyman:
You can log to the device then download the captured data in CSV format. I don't know how much device memory is available and can't say for sure that you could store 30 minutes worth of logging. All of my tests have been of the 2-5 minute variety.
Adventure Trio:
So 30 minutes might be a stretch but the device has it's own memory to log the info? I can't seem to find any detailed info on the site on how to do this.
Thanks,
Terry
marchyman:
I don't know if 30 minutes is a stretch or not. No data.
I haven't seen ANY documentation to recommend you read.
Play. Hook up the device. Start capturing real time data. It's been a quite a while since I did this and don't remember the details. I think it is a "Log to disk" checkbox at the bottom of the list of items to monitor. Limit the amount of data captured to only what you need. If you try to capture every item you'll only get about two samples/second.
Once the data has been captured it will show up as a file in a "View Log History" menu item. But I forget which screen gives you that menu. Like I said. Play.

There is enough on board storage to record for up to a year or so, I have done over 30 minutes recording through multiple ignition on/off cycles to test it
Marchyman is correct, limit the recording to only the signals you need, the less items selected the higher the sample rate
Yes it is a check box to log to storage and when you are finished you log back into the GS911 and end recording. Go to the logs page and download to your PC or tablet. Where I have tested other people's machines I tend to just disconnect the GS911 and power it up when I get home to recover the data
