My 2013 F800GS has about 3000 km on the clock. Last week on a backroad dual sport ride in the gorgeous state of West Virginia, the bike suddenly shut down twice with 1 km of each other while riding on a gravel road. Except for a very brief flashing of a "EWS Warning" on the dash after the failure, the dash went completely blank and power cut to the accessory outlet (and I assume to the rest of the bike).  Turning the key off and then on again, the bike restarted immediately both times. The bike had been flawless prior to these events and has also been perfect on the 1200 km two day trip home afterwards.

The day of the shutdowns a GS911 fault code read revealed two fault codes 59700 and 59701.  Description something like: "No Communication with the engine (BMS - K) control Unit".  Any help with this would be appreciated. The fault codes are now gone (must have cleared automatically?) so I don't see sense in a dealer visit.  Could this be the Immobilizer, or a nastier problem that will turn up again at the most inopportune time?  Doesn't make sense to me that the immobilizer would cut engine when it's already running....that function should only be active during startup?

I have added GPS / Electric vest direct to battery, and have a second GPS/Voltmeter wired into the BMW accessory outlet wiring. No other electrical mods. Instrument cluster has been relocated to a Mirage 2 fairing/windshield.

Here is the contents of an autoscan taken today:

Hi Brian,
please check and clean connectors of each module. BMS, ZFE, Cluster. Also be sure, the battery is fully charched. Maybe, there is
a power supply issue.
I found it sometimes on my 1200GS, by starting the engine without the "selftest" didn't run through completely.

Have a look for upcoming faults.
