ABS Repairs
« on: May 18, 2013, 10:48:54 AM »
There has been quite a lot of talk about who can repair what in respect of ABS modules. It seems that a directory of who does what might be very useful. If anyone is interested I would be happy to compile this - having done quite a lot of research anyway. Contributions welcome!

Sounds like a great idea.. we could even make it a sticky.. go for it!  ...and as you post it, I'm sure others will add and update info!

best,

Does that mean you don't do the intergrated units.

Yes I do, but they VERY seldom go faulty.  It is normally only the pressure relief valve that gets stuck, and that is a relatively easy fix.

Have a look here.  http://forum.hexcode.co.za/forum/index.php/topic,4.msg177.html#msg177

If there are other issues, I have spares for these pumps so can normally fix.

Jughead

Thanks for that info, I have just been back through my photos and I did not remove the pressure valves, my main concern was to clean out all the black crud in the module. Next chance I get those valves will be out and checked as per your instructions. Where are you located, its about $400 return freight for me to send it to the US/Europe.  Photos attached

PS   Really like this new site idea.

Geez, what is all that crud?  :o :o

If you have disassembled that far, just remove the valves and clean them too.  You cannot actually disassemble the valve itself as it is crimped together.  Just make sure it's clean.

Reassemble and it should be good.  Are both motors ok?

I am in Port Elizabeth.

No I have not had time, and about to travel OS again but as a bonus, this time I will just happen to be working
in UK near Silverstone for the Motogp so will make the most of it. Hopefully pull the pump out again when back in Aus, in the meantime I have run across more unhappy BMW riders - that Aprilia is looking good.
