Can I Use Another Computer with my GS-911?
Michael B:
Hi guys, a new Nubie here. Just days ago I received my new GS-911/USB interface and successfully downloaded the Hexcode software on a laptop that is 5-6-7 years old, heavy, and loaded with stuff I'd rather not destroy out on one of my trips. So Plan B formed in my mind…why not buy and use a smaller, lighter laptop that I can just toss into a pannier?
So my question: Since I have already downloaded GS-911 software onto my old laptop (Windows XP), can I download the same software again onto a new laptop (Windows Eight) without messing up my shiny new GS-911 or screwing it up with a new USB driver? I don't want to violate any Hexcode ethics here and take seconds for nothing.
Also, will my new GS-911 work on the new wet heads? Thanks much!
Jughead:
Yes you can.
I run the software on 3 different systems.
A desktop system with a large screen so the client can also see what's happening.
Second is a laptop that is portable for when bikes arrive and are on trailers out in the street.
Third is a smaller but slower laptop that I carry with me when on a trip and for roadside diagnostics/assistance.
Just copy the downloader onto the 2 pcs and do a new installation for each one.

thanks Jughead
@Michael: The GS-911 was developed to share... We also developed it with the license on the unit itself, with the intention that you can run the software on as many PCs as you need... even yours and your friend's and your other friend's etc... Essentially once you plug in the GS-911, and the software speaks to it, it will authenticate the license on the GS-911...
So, in short... on what ever PC you want to install it: go to the hexcode.co.za website. From downloads, download the GS-911downloader utility and run it...
