Adding an AdMore Rear LED Safety light to 2020 BMW R1250GS

(1/1)

Brick1946:
My 2020 BMW R1250GS has a HEX ezCAN that I used to install some Baja lights and they function wonderfully.

I feel I would like some more rear light in the rear for safety reasons. I purchased an AdMore Rear LED Safety 3-in-1 Light Bar by AdMore. It has Running/Brake/Progressive Turn signal function. I did NOT get the one with the deceleration mode function. P/N LED5420 SM T-TS.

 I attempted to install it with the HEX ezCAN trying to using one of the unused connections for power and ground. It didn't work.

Perhaps I'm not supposed to use the HEX ezCAN?

I don't know the color codes for the wiring on the BMW R1250GS So connecting to which wires is confusing for me. Additionally the wires are very small.

Has anyone done this?

hi Brick

Sure you should use the ezCAN... so the lights have run, brake and turn signals,

so I'm expecting it to have 5 wires?

* Run
* Brake
* Left turn
* Right turn
* Ground (return signal)Am I right thus far?

so you would use the BRAKE and ground wire for the brake - this gives you the full brightness od the RED LEDs, then you use the ezCAN's settings to set the running brightness...
then you can use left turn (and ground) to an output that is set as left turn signal and vice versa for the right one..

let us know how you're getting on!

best

I don't know what model bike is yours but on my R1250GSA 2020, if you connect the external brake light or any LED lights to the brake circuit, you will get a can bus error on the brake circuit.
The other option is to connect via the can bus or in my case, I installed 2 X ezcan in a daisy-chained mode and gotten 8 channels or ports.
