G'Day from Australia
« on: March 09, 2018, 08:12:11 PM »
Hi guys just pick up a 2006 bmw r1200 gs for bush and hwy work loving the bike to date. I do all my own work from service to rebuild hopefully not needed anytime soon. Anyway love the gs911 on the can bus system still reading as much as I can trying to learn the diagnostic system. Nice to have the forum for when I have problems with the old bike.
Questing does BMW sell a diagnostic manual to help with the fault codes if and when there logged.
Cheers guys for any help.
Brian

Brian

Your screen shots show the iLevel (Integration Level) of the machine was 8th month 2005 (05-08) when it left the factory and that the BMS-K firmware was updated at a Dealer to the iLevel as of 12th month of 2011 (11-12)

The latest iLevel for K024 I am aware of is 16-11-500 so there may be further BMS-K firmware updates available in the BMW Dealer system although for a 2006 model I would hope they had resolved any firmware issues by 2011

I would not be too concerned re the fault codes

They have been generated since the last time a Dealer cleared faults and only you know the last time the bike was with a Dealer, you have a reasonably high no of Kms on it, overall very few faults have been logged and none are currently present plus none show high No's of occurrence

41705 Fuel Level Indicator, could have been caused by turning on ignition with the sensor disconnected ?, it is only a "lever" type ie a switch

37641 KL30 under voltage, bike had a low battery voltage when ignition turned on at some point

37642 Implausible Photocell voltage, not sure what they are referring to with "Photocell", implausible means not in expected value range
Jughead or another person more familiar with the 2006 1200GS would be able to shine more light on it

I just found a old 2005 BMW technicians manual in Germany printed in English hopefully it will have the fault codes as listed. If I get lucky we can all benefit from this this find fingers crossed.
