S1000XR Brake Bleeding Question
« on: October 07, 2017, 11:17:29 PM »
Hi all,
I was performing the brake bleed procedure today on my S1000XR. First I bled the brakes normally by pumping the levers and releasing fluid. Then, I ran the brake bleed routine on the GS911 and during the 10 seconds it was running the first flush, it said to pull the lever 2-3 times for 2 seconds each - I assume to push some fluid through the ABS unit.

However I noticed when doing this that the lever was resisting movement and "kicking back" the same way it feels when ABS is kicking in. Is this normal? Should I pull the lever to the grip while this is happening? The rear brake was able to be pushed quite easily but some kick back vibration was also felt there.

I just don't want to damage anything is all. Thanks!

Just did the flush on my 08 GSA, and will be doing it on my S1R soon. My Lever did the same thing. Don't worry about it!

Thanks!
So how hard are you supposed to pull the front brake lever? Will it go to the bar, or just normal distance?
