Accessing and manipulating gs911 log files
« on: November 01, 2013, 01:28:59 AM »
For those running the gs911 android app with the need to work with gs911 logs, consider installing
ES FileExplorer (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.estrongs.android.pop)
for a couple of reasons.

First, you can create a desktop shortcut that, when tapped, will take you to a specific storage directory such as gs911's log directory without tapping the long address in on a small screen.

ES FileExplorer also offers a variety of ways to transfer files (such as the logs) to and from a PC or other android devices including running as an ftp server and direct device to device transfers using wifi.

Tapping any .TXT file brings up the option to open that file for viewing, editing or annotating using ES or any other app that is available for accessing plain text files. (I recommend Jota (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.sblo.pandora.jota) as the best text viewing/editing app)

Tap/hold any file and you can then select multiple files for many actions including sending via email or uploading to cloud services such as dropbox and google drive.

I've worked with at least five other android file managers for over a year and a half and none of the others approach ES for it's capabilities and flexibility.

Hope that this information is of value to other users.

Thanks for the info!
I like BIG screens for that sort of "work"... but have a smartphone now so I will give it a try  :D
