kjhunt:
Hi, my bike has been idle for about six months as I had various issues with it that needed to be sorted out and repairs, also bleeding the ABS brake system too. Anyway all the work has been completed and I went to start the bike, fired up OK no problems, only when I came to change gear from Neutral to first it connected straight away even though the clutch lever was pulled in. I thought maybe the clutch needed bleeding also so carried that out but still same problem engine is engaged as soon as I shift to first gear with clutch pulled in. So any idea folks as to what to do? Think maybe the slave cylinder is at fault and needs replacing. If the clutch plates are at fault then I will need a good repair manual, who is best?
Ken Hunt.

sounds as if clutch plate may be stuck to flywheel---- various bodges to get it unstuck--- all of them unsavoury---. you could try(on centrestand)
engine off --2nd gear--- clutch lever pulled in-- rock rear wheel back and forth---- you could even try this sitting on bike and rolling back and forward--in gear--engine off--clutch lever pulled in--good luck!!

kjhunt:
Hi, thanks for your reply will try and have ago what you said. Many thanks. Ken

robertbrownmotorcycles:
as a last resort--before removing gearbox-- if any of previous dont work-- you could try removing starter and forcing something like a thick feeler-gauge between clutchplate-pressure plate and clutchplate-flywheel (clutch pulled in- you can secure clutch lever with cable-tie but protect heated grip as cable-tie may cause damage)

kjhunt:
OK again thanks for that will view all options and see what to do. At the moment its too hot to work outside. Have to wait till it gets cooler. Again many thanks. Ken.
