k1600 throttle sync procedure
« on: July 20, 2022, 06:01:57 PM »
Good Day Fellow riders.  Lately my k1600 has an engine fault when cold.  The fault occurs after about 2-3 minutes on the road during acceleration.  If I shut the engine down and restart the code goes away and stays off the remainder of the ride.  Error code is 0x3A1421 Throttle valve 1 control error, lower limit.  How do I sync the throttle with the ECU using the GS911?  Please help.  100k US Miles on her and just did the 100k maintenance at home.  The error began to occurred shortly after BMW replace the fuel pump under a recall in Jan 2022

Hello

3A1421    Throttle valve 1
The DME detects the lower control limit on the throttle valve control. Throttle valve 1 cannot close fully.
Check throttle valve with the ignition switch off for full adjustment range and freedom of movement. (Important: pinch hazard!)
Service Plan
Check throttle valve with the ignition switch off for full adjustment range and freedom of movement. (Important: pinch hazard!)
Fault Impact
Emergency operation with greatly restricted vehicle dynamics (throttle valve in fixed position).
Significantly reduced maximum engine speed.
Service Notes
After rectifying the fault, reset the throttle valve adaptation values.

this is the only way to fix the error
If this doesn't work, the throttle valve must be replaced
Schönen Tag
Wolfgang

I wonder if i just dump some seafoam into the tank and let the bike clean itself for a 100 miles?  I have 100k miles on her now.  replace drive shaft once, had engine replaced at 22k miles due to bad oil rings, replaced clutch safety switch, had fuel pump replaced under recall, had daisy wheel replaced under warranty.  No real big issues after the engine fiasco
