How to log realtime values while driving ?

<< < (3/3)

Inspector Gadget:
We use a car with a driver and passenger, using a laptop and a Class 1 (= range of 100 meters, max) USB Bluetooth dongle to follow the bike during the test-ride.
It does not mean you can use effectively a range of a 100 meters, but we stick the USB Bluetooth dongle to the windscreen of the car and it does a pretty good job most of the time.

Yes, we Dutch are odd, I know. Sorry!

Haakon:
Wooden shoes and living under sea level :-))
Why not use a tankbag with a small netbook or tiny laptop?
I usually use a tiny laptop and a USB connection.
(I have the USB wire permanently "installed", with the PC loose end under the saddle)
On a "customer" bike that is not practical tho.
2 strips of tape will keep the wire safe- OR use the bluetooth connection.
One of the many strap on tankbags will do well.
Seems (to me) its problems to use a second vehicle.... :)

Inspector Gadget:
 ;D

Whilst I fully agree your suggestion is a much easier solution, at times we have bikes with odd problems that only examination of the realtime values during the ride we get clues what the possible issue might be.
With the follow-car we can observe it all during the ride and give instructions what to do or try to induce.
Rather then stopping, taking the gloves off, opening the tankbag, examining what has been sampled so far, make an on the spot decision what to do next, closing the tankbag, putting the gloves back on and continue riding.

Haakon:
Surely- I see the obvious reasons you tell!  :D
(For me it would be easier to make a stationary test "road" than find people to help me when I need it  ;D
