Need help with GS-911 3-pin setup

Thank you for the thoughtful responses.  I will open a support ticket. 

Oh, the ThinkPad USBs are standard and I've used ThinkPads with VAG-com readers, OBDII readers, external CD drives, memory cards, etc.  They are well behaved.

Hex code customer support has told me I need to connect the GS-911 to the motorbike's power and not to an external power pack as I had.  The GS-911 and the power cord share a ground so the power cable must be connected to the bike's power.

I will try this.  Thank you for a very prompt customer support response!
