Ignition off fault

Good day all

Have been struggling to get my 2006 Dakar to start.

Got my GS911 Blu Enthusiast today and installed all software correctly. It works on my Android cellphone and on my laptop. By that I mean that both devices recognises the GS911 and I can see my motorcycle info ( serial no., build date etc. )

If, however, I select my motorcycle model,  a message comes up :

Error

Detected the following problem:
Failed to read contoller info: No response from controller, check that the :
Ignition is on
Kill switch is in the RUN position,
etc, etc

If I then continue with the diagnostic run and select Engine, ECU info ( or any other function ) another message comes up that the ignition is off and there is no response from the controller.

The ignition is clearly on and the GS gets power from the bike alone as well. No wires are off inside the kill switch.

Would really appreciate any help!!

Oh yeah. On the laptop screen ( bottom right) it also indicates the same fault:
VIGN 0V (off )
Though VBAT: 12.6V

Fuses are good.

Ok, had a stupid moment. Wayne explained that the Dakar will show no ignition as it is not wired like that out of the socket.

Hello Heino,

VIGN 0V (off ) maybe one thing you can ignore, because there is no cable for "15" in diagnostic connector :)

Please pull the injector connector and check the red/yellow cable for 12V and more, ignition on.

F1 fuse ok?
K9110 Main relay for DME ok?
Ignition lock and wiring ok?

Thnks for your reply. To explain a bit more about my problem (not sure how well you know the dakar ).

When I switch on the ignition there is no pre start sequence. The fuel pump does not prime and the coolant light does not flicker.

The fuel pump works as I connected it to 12V. All relays seem to be fine and working. Wiring too. Fuses are good.

Connected the GS911 again for an autoscan and a "no response from controller" message comes up.

Hi,
"no response from controller", because power supply shut off. Thats why i wrote Main relay for DME.
You have to remove the centre trim panel and lid of electronic equipment box to check the relay and the wiring :)

Sounds like you are missing power to the BMS unit.

Check the +ve battery cable.  You have a whole bunch of small wires coming off the terminal tab.  One of them, the thinnest of the lot, is the feed for the BMS.

Found the problem. With guidance from Wayne I eventually found a broken wire between the side stand switch and the side stand itself. I could hardly see that the loom was chafed through and thus missed it when I inspected it right in the beginning. Jughead, you actually also helped me with fault finding on Wilddogs. Thanks!
